Welcome to the Steno Wizard's Realtime Journey!

Remember when life was simple and all you had to do was make a selection on what your steno really meant? Those days are long gone.

Reporters must get themselves into top realtime form to compete in today's job market. This is my contribution toward ALL of us reaching the realtime goal.

My Steno Wizardry concept is based on the idea that writing realtime actually doesn't require magic -- just hard work, determination, and a little bit of FUN imagination.

My hope is my sharing of the ideas I've incorporated into my realtime journey will assist you in yours.

Less can be more

Sometimes it's good to be a little lazy at the steno machine.  Why write something in two or more strokes when one and done is always better.  Here are some of the shortcuts Steno Wizard has been embracing with success.  Remember, speed is an essential component to successful realtime.

Dropping the -D when possible can be a timesaver on the -ing endings.  Look at these.

Depending DPENG
Sending SENG
Handing HANG  (Hang is HAEUNG)
Demanding DMANG
Commanding KMANG
Rounding ROUNG
Standing STANG
Pending PENG
Binding BAOEUNG
Compounding KPOUNG
Defending DWENG
Spending SPENG
Responding SPONG
Expanding SKPANG

Dropping the -BG when possible also is an excellent timesaver on -ing endings.  Check these out.

Walking WAUG
Talking TAUG
Stalking STAUG
Taking TAEUG
Making MAEUG
Checking KHEG
Looking LAOG
Working WORG
Parking PARG
Smoking SMOEG
Thinking THEUG
Striking STRAOEUG
Speaking SPAOEG

Here's another.  Dropping the -T and going straight for the -G.

Writing WRAOEUG
